Government Employment for the Disabled

Apply for a civil service job with the City through the 55-a program.

Department of Personnel
People with disabilities can apply for City employment through the 55-a program. The program permits the City to convert 700 civil service positions to non-competitive class -- meaning that no civil service exam is required. These positions can only be filled by people with disabilities who have the skills necessary to carry out the jobs' duties.

Call the Department of Personnel for further information.

Department of Personnel's Bureau of Examinations
If you would like to apply for a civil service job with the City and need special accommodations to take the civil service exam, call the Department of Personnel's Bureau of Examinations.
