“It’s crass and unfeeling to stare inequality in the face and simply say ‘life isn’t always fair.’ The NAACP has brought serious charges that demand more than a flip response from the Mayor.

“Our goal needs to be reducing disparities in education, not entrenching them. Like a lot of parents, Chirlane and I believe staking so much on a single test is no way to run a school system. It certainly does not mirror the real world these young people will soon enter. The NAACP is right to expose the missed opportunities under today’s status quo.”
