Democrats could use a steady, familiar and perhaps grandfatherly figure to fill the vacancy left by Rep. Anthony Weiner's resignation yesterday and heal the wounds of Weinergate. “What's important is for any party to put forth talented, competent, trustworthy candidates,” said Fordham professor Costas Panagopoulos. “The national spotlight does not give the party the luxury to pick someone who doesn't have these qualities.”
